What is the difference between a measurement report and an estimate?

A measurement report gives you the dimensions of a structure: roof area, pitch, ridge, hip, valley, eave and rake lengths, wall areas and gutter lengths. An estimate prices the work. It turns measurements, photos and notes into line items with quantities and costs in Xactimate or Symbility. EstimateClaims provides both.

What measurement reports do you offer?

Roof reports, wall reports and gutter reports. Roof reports are delivered in Xactimate ESX or Symbility XML, and packages can include a PDF and a wall report.

How much do measurement reports cost?

Roof reports start at $10.99 for Xactimate ESX and $14.99 for Symbility XML. Packages that include a PDF and a wall report go up to $34.99. The price for each report is shown on the order form before you pay.

What estimates do you write?

Roof, siding and exterior, water damage and flood, fire and smoke, mold, packout, and other interior estimates, plus supplements. Everything is delivered in Xactimate or Symbility format.

How much do estimates cost?

Roof estimates are $59, siding and exterior estimates are $69, and a roof and siding bundle is $99. Supplements are $49. Interior estimates are a percentage of the estimate total with a $99 minimum: 1% for water and flood, 2% for fire and smoke, and 1% for mold, packout and other interior work. Commercial estimates start at $199. Rush delivery adds $39.

How do you get measurements for an interior estimate?

For interior work such as water, flood, fire, smoke, mold and packout, we need interior dimensions. You can send Matterport details, or fill in our interior room form with room dimensions and notes. We measure roofs, walls and gutters from the exterior ourselves.

Do you write supplements?

Yes. Roofers use us to write estimates and supplements when a carrier estimate leaves out items or underprices them. Send the carrier estimate, your photos and a measurement report, and we prepare the supplement.

How long does it take?

Estimates are usually delivered in one to three business days. Rush delivery is available for an added $39. Measurement reports are delivered the same day. ESX files can be ready in 1 hour or less. Revisions are free.

What do I need to send for a roof or siding estimate?

The property address, claim details for insurance work, and either a measurement report, your own measurements or an adjuster estimate we can extract from, plus photos. See the roof estimate checklist.

Which formats do you deliver?

Xactimate and Symbility. Measurement reports can also come with a PDF.

Can you include overhead and profit?

Yes. The order form has an option to add overhead and profit at 10% each. Learn more in overhead and profit explained.

Do you guarantee the carrier will approve an estimate or supplement?

No. No estimator can guarantee how a carrier responds. We prepare a complete, well-documented scope from the information you provide.

Do I need a subscription?

No. You pay per report or per estimate.

Can you convert a Xactimate PDF to an ESX file?

Yes. Send the Xactimate PDF estimate and we return an ESX file you can open and edit in Xactimate. The price is $40 per file and files are returned within one business day. See PDF to ESX conversion.

Which areas do you cover?

We work with contractors and adjusters across the United States and Canada. Enter the property address and ZIP code on the order form so the correct regional pricing is used.
